Yountville
This property is located on a corner lot in the central area of Yountville, providing easy access to the restaurants, inns and shops. The house was custom-built during 2005 in a French country style commonly seen in southern France. The exterior is constructed of natural stone from a local Napa Valley quarry. Tiles for the roof were imported from France and are approximately 200 years old. A flagstone path leads to the main entry from a wrought-iron gate set in a low stone wall along the front of the house. The main entry is covered overhead with a wide veranda that extends along both the front and north side of the house. The veranda floor is of the same buff flagstone as the entryway path, both of which blend well with the natural stone exterior. There is an attractive limestone tile patio in the backyard to provide an ideal outdoor entertainment area. The patio is surrounded by mature trees, high fencing and one wall of the two-car detached garage, such that the area is secluded and private. A large water fountain attached to the garage exterior enhances a quiet, serene atmosphere. This is complemented by simple, low-maintenance landscaping throughout the property. Adjacent to the back patio, there is a two-car detached garage with a tile roof and wood doors done in carriage-house style. Built-in cabinets and overhead shelves provide considerable storage space. Several special features of the house are worth noting, as follows:
The front entry opens into a large living/dining area. Large bay windows on each side of the front entry and three large windows along the north wall flood this area with natural light In the living room, there is an attractive fireplace, above which is a built-in flat panel TV. A built-in wine cooler in the dining area has a capacity for storing approximately 120 bottles. Double doors lead from the dining area outside onto the veranda. The large kitchen features French limestone counter tops and top-of-the-line appliances. Wood cabinets on three walls provide abundant storage space. Access to the back patio is available through a kitchen door. A large bedroom/den is adjacent to the kitchen/dining area. Though currently set up for use as a den/study, this room might also be used as a bedroom, as it has a full bath featuring a tumbled marble shower stall and washbasin counter top. There are three bedrooms upstairs, including a large master suite with two spacious closets. The master suite has double doors that overlook a wrought-iron planter box hanging immediately above the tiled veranda roof and front entry. In addition to the master suite, there are two guest bedrooms and a guest bathroom. The bathroom, as elsewhere in the house, has a tile floor, with tumbled marble tile in the shower stall. The house was built as a duplex, with separate heating, air conditioning, electrical and natural gas capability for the upstairs. There is a stairway to the second story from the back patio leading up to a door in what is now the larger guest bedroom. The current owners have used the house as a single-family residence, but conversion to a duplex would be relatively simple. This is an unusually appealing property, both in terms of design and quality of construction. The French country-style design blends seamlessly into Yountville’s Wine Country environment. The owners obviously have taken great care in planning and building the house to a high standard. As noted on a plaque by the front gate, this is truly Belle Maison – a beautiful home. Offered at $1,750,000
